Let´s be consistent!

Hi! How are you? I have decided to talk about the literature on the screen. Last classes were useful to comprehend the importance of films in the school. During the school, children saw the films as a prize. In our class, we could understand that films can be a good resource to learn English.

First of all, we remember how we worked with the films when we were children. The opinions were similar and we were accord with teachers employed films as a prize when the students had finished the activity.
After that, we saw Mulan and when we finished the film, we had to answer some questions relate to the film.

We thought about the films that we had seen with teachers and we shared our opinions about the use of films.

So, in my opinion, the most important part of the activity was to organize the advantages of using films in a classroom according to 4cs. We had to relate the characteristics with the 4cs and I think that it was useful to understand the use of the films. As teacher, we should to relate our subject with CLIL strategies to improve the English level in our class.

Finally, we answered some questions relate to the film. Each group was the responsible of a question and when all the groups finished, we had to put in common the ideas. I think that it was a great summary of the film because the questions were focused on the role of men, the role of woman, the role of the family, the role of elderly people, violence, success, the bad characters, china´s situation and the moral of the story. With these questions, we could to distinguish the main factors of the film.
Relate to the roles, I have decided to include a part of the film that it is present the role of the women in China:

Thanks to this class, we have checked the different uses of a film in a class. In my opinion, I think that this class had been useful to reflect about films because we should to know the importance of use films. I think that as teachers, we have to include this tool as something productive and not as a prize!

Cinderella is coming!

During the childhood, I think that all the children have seen Disney´s movies. For this reason, I consider that it´s an interesting topic to talk about Cinderella story because there are different versions and I think that only one is focused on children: The Perrault´s version.

First of all, in class we taught about Cinderella´s story. It was fantastic because with the help in group, we could remember the characters, the events and the end of the story.

In my opinion, this activity had an objective: To distinguish between the two stores, the Grimm´s version and Perrault´s version. As teachers, I think that it is necessary to look for one adapted version to share with our pupils.

During the class, we read the two versions and in my opinion, the two stories change notably. I think that there is a main difference between the stories, the years.

In Perrault version, Cinderella was advised by her stepmother and she will help to Cinderella during the book until Cinderella will be married with the prince. In the other case, Grimm´s brothers said that Cinderella is advised by a bird.

By other part, there is other big difference between the final of the stories. In Perrault´s version, the sisters will have a punishment while in the other story, Cinderella is comprehensive and she absolves their sister.

In summary, both stories are different by the years and the age. I mean, I think that Perrault´s version is more adapted for children and it´s written in other way by the difference between the years.

Great Authors!

During the week, we have taught about the great authors for children literature. First of all, Raquel taught something related their works and after that, she had explained about our task.

Our task was focused on the search and investigation of an author in groups. Each group chose a paper that contained a name. In our case, we wanted to investigate about Eric Carle so, in the paper put “David Shannon”.

We had not any idea about this author and it was not easy to talk about a stranger. Raquel explained that we had to convince the audience about that man was the best author.

We had a guide to introduce our author in a correct way talking about their life, works and topics and the reasons of that he was the better.

We decided to divide the task and we developed many curiosities about him. By this reason, we were more involved in our work.

I think that we had many reasons to expose this author as the better: He had won lots of awards; he wrote his books when he was a child and he will record a movie with “DreamWorks”.

In my opinion, he understood how to tell their stories in an interesting way. Works as “No David”(1998) and “How I became a pirate” were their hall of fame.

When we had all the information, each group prepared a PowerPoint to explain his author. It was an interesting class because each presentation had something interesting. Congratulations!

Probably, we will work in a future with these authors and I consider that it is important to understand their works because we will transmit better the ideas in a class.

IF YOU READ, THEY READ

Hi everybody! Last week, we did our Reading map in class where Raquel explained what a reading map was.

For me, reading map is like an schema with our books and phases of reading during our life. When we finish our reading maps, we did a museum in class to expose our artworks.

The museum was something different because all the class could to see the reading maps and I think that it was like an inspiration to improve in other works.

In my opinion, this activity was something special because we have could to remember our infant and the books that we have read. By other hand, I´d like to explain my own reading map.

Since I was a child, I used to hear the stories that my parents told me before to fall sleep. When I was six years, my teacher taught me to read and I tried to read school books like “The five “or “Aladelta Books”.

Really, during the school I didn’t have interest about reading so when I came to the high school, I tried to have my own interest and I became to read books about intrigue and psychological aspects as Paulo Coelho or Agatha Christy.

As you can see, my interest tried in the high school thanks to a teacher that he showed me what types of books could interest me. Actually, for me, reading is a distraction or a way to scape.

In my opinion, I have learnt thanks to this project, the importance of the reading. Children should understand that reading can be fun and we should to promote these aspects for our pupils.

I think that the aim of Raquel was that we understand the importance of reading in this stage.

We need a new way to understand Phonetic!

I always have thought that phonetic was something boring and uninteresting.  I didn’t understand the difference between the phonemes and letters.  I supposed that when I have been in the school, I didn’t learn this topic completely.
As teachers, I have understand that to teach literature, it is essential the phonetic. Phonetic has an aim to teach the production of speech sounds by humans. In our case, it is important to includes that phonetic have different rules or different positions depending on the language.
To teach phonetic is a difficult way. Children acquire a different lexicon depending on all the words that they have heard.
In the past, phonetic was taught through reading and writing. In my opinion, I think that phonetic should be understand by the child. Children don’t understand the purpose of phonetic and by this reason, we should to choose other option to teach this section as games or activities.

As a conclusion, children should understand that phonetic is not letters, if not sounds that depend on the form and the language.

During the first days of the classes, we taught about storytelling. I think that it’s an important topic in our area because we should to learn how to tell a story.
Normally, we are telling stories when we tell a joke, when you want to convince your parents or when you tell what you did the last week. As a conclusion, storytelling consists on to transmit with gestures and movement a story.
One example of the importance of gestures and movements are in the next video where we observe that it’s easier to understand the story. In the video, we can observe how a child tries to tell a story.

As a result, I have seen that the child uses a support like flash cards or a book in Din A3.These methods are essential because the other children are supported in the materials to understand the story.
Children should to live the story and this is simple. As teachers, we should to help students to understand the story and we provide some techniques as scaffolding for children.
-          Visual resources as vignettes and pictures
-          Body language to express the feelings in the story.
-          To realize a glossary with different key words
-          Divide the story in parts.
These elements will be useful for tell the story because it’s a way to combine the story with the resources.

In my opinion. I think that this topic it is essential for a teacher because we can obtain a progress in the reading´s children in a future.
